Meet our teachers

Lauren Newey Turner, BFA

      Lauren brings her passion for art and nature to create a transformative educational experience. With a BFA in sculpture, Lauren has collaborated with public land agencies and nonprofit partners to design innovative programs that connect people to nature through art. Her experience as a teacher at Wild Roots Forest School and co-leader of the KIND after-school outdoor program has sharpened her ability to inspire young minds in the natural world. Her most recent experience as a mother has fortified her belief in the importance of providing nature-based learning to her community. 
     Before starting River Song, Lauren spent 4 years traveling around the country with her family. In her travels she observed multiple approaches to alternative education, so that upon her return to the Eastern Sierra she knew just what she wanted to offer the community.
